One of Eastbourne's top Guesthouses,The Cherry Treein Silverdale Road, is now under new ownership.
It was sold by Lynda Couch-Smith who acquired it in 2004 and carried out an extensive refurbishment programme to improve its Star rating. The Cherry Tree gained entry into the Michelin Guide two years running and was named Small Business of the Year in 2005/6.
The new owners are Carol and Richard Butler from Kent who have a background in telecommunications and teaching. Carol is delighted to have relocated to Eastbourne, "it's always been our dream to run our own Guesthouse and the town has so much to offer". We look forward to welcoming guests to the Cherry Tree".
Local firm GPS-Direct handled the sale. Director Roger Cotton says "we were very pleased to be instructed to market the Cherry Tree Hotel, Eastbourne. Despite the much publicised downtown, the sale generated a great deal of interest from all parts of the UK and beyond. In fact viewings took place with people looking to relocate to Eastbourne from Italy, Switzerland and Canada! This clearly shows the town's growing reputation. We would like to wish Carol and Richard Butler every success in their new venture".
Lynda Couch-Smith, who is also Vice Chairman of Eastbourne's Hospitality Association, says "the highlight of my time at the Cherry Tree was having the world renowned travel writer Bill Bryson to stay". Lynda is remaining in Eastbourne to run Pizzazz Marketing which specialises in PR and Press Campaigns and Media Training.
