The hotel, currently known as The Waterside, has recently been purchased by a hotel group who have big plans for the property. They plan to carry out an extensive and respectful refurbishment project on the building and its accommodation.
The Waterside was redeveloped about 12 years ago to create a boutique style hotel – one of the first in Eastbourne. It has stunning direct views over Eastbourne’s seafront and promenade and is in the perfect position between the Town Centre and Sovereign Harbour.
The Hotel has been sold by the Sussex office of GPS Business Sales, based in Eastbourne. Roger Cotton, Director of GPS, was pleased to sell the building to allow it to be updated and re-opened to serve the tourist trade that serves the popular seaside town.
“I think it is great for a hotel of this size and prominent position on Eastbourne’s seafront to be re-energized and offer high quality accommodation again to the town’s visitors. The hotel has been closed for several years and was looking a bit sorry for itself so its great that it will be looking fresh again. Many local hoteliers may be surprised to hear that there are buyers in the current climate but at GPS we have regular enquiries, from prospective purchasers looking for their next business or investment. These enquiries are looking across many business sectors, not just hospitality.”
